Cyavana’s Yogic Display and Kuśika’s Recognition of Tapas (च्यवन-योगप्रभावः कुशिकस्य तपःप्रशंसा च)
अभिगम्य भृगो: पुत्र च्यवनं संशितव्रतम् । इदं प्रोवाच नृपते वाचा संतर्पयज्निव,राजन! वे कठोर व्रतका पालन करनेवाले भृगुपुत्र महर्षि च्यवनके पास जाकर उन्हें अपनी वाणीद्वारा तृप्त करते हुए-से बोले
abhigamya bhṛgoḥ putraṁ cyavanaṁ saṁśitavratam | idaṁ provāca nṛpate vācā saṁtarpayann iva ||
Bhishma berkata: “Wahai raja, setelah mendekati Cyavana, putera Bhrigu—seorang pertapa yang teguh dalam ikrar yang keras—dia mengucapkan kata-kata ini, seolah-olah menenteramkan sang resi dengan tutur yang hormat dan menyenangkan.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic conduct in approaching spiritual authorities: one should go with humility and use respectful, pleasing speech, recognizing the power of words to honor and ‘satisfy’ a sage devoted to strict vows.
