मानुषत्वमनुप्राप्तो नैने शोचितुमरहसि । 'शोभने! ये महातेजस्वी वसु थे, वसिष्ठजीके शाप-दोषसे इन्हें मनुष्य-योनिमें आना पड़ा था। अतः इनके लिये शोक नहीं करना चाहिये

mānuṣatvam anuprāpto naine śocitum arhasi | śobhane ye mahātejasvī vasavaḥ te vasiṣṭhajī-śāpa-doṣeṇa manuṣya-yoniṃ prāptāḥ | ataḥ eteṣāṃ kṛte śoko na kartavyaḥ |

Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Kini setelah mereka mencapai keadaan sebagai manusia, engkau tidak patut berdukacita bagi mereka. Wahai yang jelita, para Vasu yang bercahaya itu terpaksa memasuki kelahiran manusia kerana kesalahan yang timbul akibat sumpahan Vasiṣṭha. Maka, dukacita atas mereka tidaklah wajar.”
