अभिवाद्याथ कौन्तेय: पितामहमरिंदम । द्वैपायनादीन वि्रांश्न तैश्न प्रत्यभिनन्दित:

abhivādyātha kaunteyaḥ pitāmaham ariṃdama | dvaipāyanādīn viprāṃś ca taiś ca pratyabhinanditaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana berkata: Kemudian putera Kuntī, penunduk musuh, terlebih dahulu menunduk memberi hormat kepada Datuk Agung. Sesudah itu baginda menyembah Vyāsa dan para brāhmaṇa yang lain dengan penuh takzim; dan mereka pula menyambutnya dengan kata-kata alu-aluan serta pujian—menegakkan bahawa memuliakan orang tua dan guru adalah tanda dharma.
