Śiva-stavarāja: Upamanyu’s Preface and Initiation of the Śarva-Nāma Enumeration

Anuśāsana-parva 17

Educational Q&A

True authority is portrayed as dharmic guardianship: one who protects the world must also transcend worldly attachment, embodying purity in thought, speech, and action, and thereby becomes worthy of universal reverence.

Vāyu is describing an exalted figure (a lokapāla-like ideal) through a string of honorific epithets, emphasizing moral and spiritual qualities—purity, completeness, holiness, and being served by all beings—rather than merely power.
