This line is a colophon marking the close of a chapter and locating it within the Mahābhārata’s ethical framework—here, the dāna-dharma (duty and principles of giving). It signals that the surrounding discourse belongs to instruction on righteous charity and conduct.
The text is concluding a chapter identified as part of the Pavana–Arjuna dialogue within the Anuśāsana Parva. Rather than advancing the story directly, it functions as an editorial closure and reference point for the reader.
