Shloka 4

ब्राह्मणा: सर्वलोकानां महान्तो धर्मसेतव: । धनत्यागाभिरामाक्ष वाक्संयमरताक्षू ये,ब्राह्मण समस्त जगत्‌की धर्ममर्यादाका संरक्षण करनेवाले सेतुके समान हैं। वे धनका त्याग करके प्रसन्न होते हैं और वाणीका संयम रखते हैं

brāhmaṇāḥ sarvalokānāṁ mahānto dharmasetavaḥ | dhanatyāgābhirāmāś ca vāksaṁyamaratāś ca ye ||

Bhishma berkata: “Para Brahmana itu agung—laksana jambatan yang menegakkan batas-batas dharma bagi semua alam. Mereka berbahagia dalam meninggalkan harta, dan mereka tekun menahan serta mengawal tutur kata.”
