Educational Q&A

Pleasing the Supreme (here, the lotus-eyed Lord) through sincere devotion and right conduct brings broader harmony: the gods, led by Brahmā, also become favorable. The verse emphasizes a hierarchy of grace—divine approval at the highest level implies alignment with the entire divine order.

Īśvara speaks a doctrinal assurance: the devotee who gains the Lord’s pleasure simultaneously gains the goodwill of the assembled deities. It functions as encouragement within Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction-focused setting, linking personal devotion to cosmic endorsement.
