Pratyakṣa–Āgama–Ācāra: Doubt, Proof, and the Practice of Dharma (प्रत्यक्ष–आगम–आचारविचारः)

अष्टमीयज्ञपरता चातुर्मास्यनिषेवणम्‌ । पौर्णमासादयो यज्ञा नित्ययज्ञस्तथैव च

aṣṭamīyajñaparatā cāturmāsyaniṣevaṇam | paurṇamāsādayo yajñā nityayajñas tathaiva ca ||

Mahādeva bersabda: “Bagi vānaprastha—pertapa penghuni rimba—disiplin yang wajar ialah ini: bertekun pada korban Aṣṭamī (ritus Aṣṭakā yang dilakukan pada hari bulan ke-8), memelihara ikrar bermusim Cāturmāsya, dan secara teratur melaksanakan upacara yang bermula dengan persembahan Paurṇamāsa, bersama-sama dengan korban harian yang wajib. Dengan demikian, keteguhan dalam dharma dan ibadat yang teratur menjadi asas etika kehidupan vānaprastha.”
