भुक्ते परिजने पश्चाद्‌ भोजन धर्म उच्यते । ब्राह्मणस्य गृहस्थस्य श्रोत्रियस्थ विशेषत:

bhukte parijane paścād bhojanaṁ dharma ucyate | brāhmaṇasya gṛhasthasya śrotriyastha viśeṣataḥ ||

Maheshvara bersabda: “Hanya setelah para tanggungan dan seluruh ahli rumah telah makan, barulah seseorang mengambil makanan untuk dirinya sendiri; itulah yang dinyatakan sebagai laku yang benar menurut dharma. Ini diajarkan sebagai kewajipan utama, khususnya bagi seorang Brahmin dalam tahap grihastha—lebih-lebih lagi bagi seorang śrotriya (Brahmin terlatih dan berilmu dalam Veda).”
