Vyuṣṭi (Merit-Outcome) of Honoring Brāhmaṇas: Kṛṣṇa and Durvāsā

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the Mahābhārata theme that extraordinary births and destinies can arise through divine sanction: spiritual power (tejas) and divine will shape lineage, and a sage’s life may be guided by messages and boons that connect human aims with cosmic purpose.

Vāyu reports a divine message to a great sage: he has been instructed to convey that Śiva (Vṛṣadhvaja) will become the sage’s son, manifested from half of Śiva’s own radiance—announcing a miraculous, divinely ordained birth.
