Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
न हि ते<प्राप्यमस्तीह त्रिषु लोकेषु किंचन । लोकान् सूजेस्त्वमपरानिच्छन् यदुकुलोद्वह
na hi te 'prāpyam astīha triṣu lokeṣu kiṃcana | lokān sṛjeḥ tvam aparān icchan yadukulodvaha ||
Vāsudeva berkata: “Wahai penegak keturunan Yadu, tiada sesuatu pun dalam tiga alam ini yang tidak dapat dicapai olehmu. Jika engkau menghendaki, engkau bahkan mampu melahirkan dunia-dunia yang lain.”
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse emphasizes the extraordinary, near-cosmic capability of the addressed hero—nothing in the three worlds is beyond his reach, and his will is portrayed as creative and world-forming. Ethically, it frames power as vast potential that should be guided by right intention rather than mere desire.
Vāsudeva addresses a prominent member of the Yadu line, praising his unmatched capacity and suggesting that, if he wished, he could even create additional worlds—an exaltation meant to elevate the listener’s stature and the gravity of the moment.
