Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

छागशार्दूलरूपश्न अनेकमृगरूपधृक्‌ । अण्डजानां च दिव्यानां वपुर्धारयते भव:,वे बकरे और शार्दूलके रूपमें भी उपलब्ध होते हैं। नाना प्रकारके मृगों--वन्य पशुओंके भी रूप धारण करते हैं तथा भगवान्‌ शिव दिव्य पक्षियोंके भी रूप धारण कर लेते हैं

chāgaśārdūlarūpaś ca anekamṛgarūpadhṛk | aṇḍajānāṃ ca divyānāṃ vapur dhārayate bhavaḥ ||

Vāsudeva berkata: “Bhava (Śiva) menyarung tubuh dalam pelbagai rupa—muncul sebagai kambing dan juga sebagai harimau; Baginda turut mengambil bentuk aneka binatang liar, bahkan rupa burung-burung ilahi. Ajaran ini menegaskan kehadiran Tuhan yang meliputi segalanya dan sifat-Nya yang serba berubah, serta menyeru agar kehidupan dihormati dalam segala penzahirannya.”
