Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ
King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
स मातरमनुज्ञाप्य तपस्येव मनो दधे | स्मृतो<5हं दर्शयिष्यामि कृत्येष्विति च सोडब्रवीत्
sa mātaram anujñāpya tapasy eva mano dadhe | smṛto 'haṃ darśayiṣyāmi kṛtyeṣv iti ca so 'bravīt ||
Setelah memperoleh keizinan ibunya, beliau menumpukan seluruh fikiran pada tapa (pertapaan). Beliau juga berkata kepadanya: “Apabila timbul keperluan, ingatlah akan aku; pasti aku akan menampakkan diri.” Demikianlah, setelah memohon izin dan berpisah daripada ibunya, Vyāsa menumpukan diri kepada tapa.
