Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ
King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
तस्या: शक्रस्य पूजार्थ भूमौ भूमिपतिस्तदा । प्रवेशं कारयामास गते संवत्सरे तदा,तदनन्तर एक वर्ष बीतनेपर भूपाल वसुने इन्द्रकी पूजाके लिये उस छड़ीको भूमिमें गाड़ दिया
tasyāḥ śakrasya pūjārthaṃ bhūmau bhūmipatistadā | praveśaṃ kārayāmāsa gate saṃvatsare tadā ||
Kemudian, setelah genap setahun, Raja Vasu, penguasa negeri, menyuruh tongkat itu ditanam ke dalam bumi sebagai suatu penetapan, dengan maksud untuk pemujaan kepada Śakra (Indra).
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharma of a king: sustaining sacred rites and honoring the gods for the welfare and order of the realm. Royal authority is shown as inseparable from responsibility for ritual and communal religious life.
After a year has elapsed, King Vasu arranges for an object (contextually a staff/pole) to be set into the ground as part of worship offered to Śakra (Indra).
