Āstīka-stuti at Janamejaya’s Sacrifice (आस्तीकस्तुतिः / यज्ञप्रशंसा)
काश्यप उवाच यत्र राजा कुरुश्रेष्ठ: परिक्षिन्नाम वै द्विज । तक्षकेण भुजड़्ेन धक्ष्यते किल सोउद्य वै,काश्यपने कहा--ब्रह्मन! मैं वहाँ जाता हूँ जहाँ कुरुकुलके श्रेष्ठ राजा परीक्षित् रहते हैं। सुना है कि आज ही तक्षक नाग उन्हें डँसेगा। अतः मैं तत्काल ही उन्हें नीरोग करनेके लिये जल्दी-जल्दी वहाँ जा रहा हूँ। मेरे द्वारा सुरक्षित नरेशको वह सर्प नष्ट नहीं कर सकेगा
kāśyapa uvāca | yatra rājā kuruśreṣṭhaḥ parikṣin nāma vai dvija | takṣakeṇa bhujaṅgena dhakṣyate kila so 'dya vai ||
Kāśyapa berkata: “Wahai brāhmaṇa, aku menuju ke tempat Raja Parīkṣit, yang terunggul dalam keturunan Kuru, bersemayam. Dikatakan bahawa pada hari ini juga Takṣaka akan menimpanya. Maka aku bergegas ke sana segera untuk memulihkannya kepada kesihatan; setelah dilindungi olehku, ular itu tidak akan mampu memusnahkan raja.”
