The verse highlights compassionate advocacy: a community member (Elāpatra) speaks up for a virtuous leader (Vāsuki), urging divine grace to relieve mental suffering—suggesting that merit and service invite support, and that calming another’s distress is a dharmic act.
Elāpatra addresses the Lord of the gods on behalf of Vāsuki, describing him as consistently helpful and pleasing to the nāgas, and requests that the deity grant favor and pacify Vāsuki’s inner turmoil (manojvara).
