न सख्यमजरं लोके हृदि तिष्ठति कस्यचित् । कालो होन॑ विहरति क्रोधो वैनं हरत्युत
na sakhyam ajaraṁ loke hṛdi tiṣṭhati kasyacit | kālo hi enaṁ viharati krodho vā enaṁ haraty uta ||
Di dunia ini, tiada hati sesiapa pun yang menyimpan persahabatan sebagai sesuatu yang tidak menua dan kekal. Waktu memisahkan seorang sahabat daripada sahabatnya; dan amarah juga dapat menyeret manusia menjauh daripada persahabatan.
हुपद उवाच
Friendship is not naturally permanent; it must be protected. Time can create distance, and anger can actively destroy bonds—so self-control and steady conduct are essential to preserve trust.
