व्यपोहनस्तवनिरूपण-प्रसङ्गे नक्तभोजन-शिवव्रतविधिः (वार्षिक-प्रतिमास-क्रमः)
सत्यवादी जितक्रोधः शालिगोधूमगोरसैः पक्षयोरष्टमीं यत्नाद् उपवासेन वर्तयेत्
satyavādī jitakrodhaḥ śāligodhūmagorasaiḥ pakṣayoraṣṭamīṃ yatnād upavāsena vartayet
Hendaklah si bhakta—yang berkata benar dan menaklukkan amarah—dengan tekun memelihara hari Aṣṭamī bagi kedua-dua paruh bulan melalui puasa, sambil menyara diri hanya dengan beras, gandum, dan hasil daripada lembu. Dengan pengekangan berdisiplin demikian, paśu disucikan daripada pāśa dan menjadi layak menerima anugerah Śiva (Pati).
