Adhyaya 8: Yogasthanas, Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama-Siddhi, and Shiva-Dhyana leading to Samadhi

भोगेन तृप्तिर्नैवास्ति विषयाणां विचारतः तस्माद्विरागः कर्तव्यो मनसा कर्मणा गिरा

bhogena tṛptirnaivāsti viṣayāṇāṃ vicārataḥ tasmādvirāgaḥ kartavyo manasā karmaṇā girā

Apabila menimbang hakikat sebenar objek-objek indera, didapati bahawa kenikmatan tidak pernah membawa kepuasan yang sejati. Maka hendaklah dipupuk virāga (ketidakmelekatan)—dengan minda, dengan perbuatan, dan dengan tutur kata—agar paśu melonggarkan pāśa dan berpaling kepada Pati, Śiva.
