Vibhaga 1, Adhyaya 74 —
Materials, Classes, and Fruits of Linga-Worship
Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga-mahatmya to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It declares Śiva-liṅga-pūjā as a supreme support of cosmic order—worship of the Liṅga is presented as the means by which the whole jagat is sustained and made steady.
Śiva is implied as Pati—the foundational Lord whose presence is accessed through the Liṅga; when the Liṅga is worshipped, the universe abides, indicating Śiva-tattva as the sustaining ground beyond all doubt.
The verse highlights śivaliṅga-samabhyarcana (proper Liṅga worship)—a core practice aligned with Pāśupata orientation where devotion and disciplined pūjā loosen pāśa (bondage) and align the paśu (soul) with Pati.
