जम्बूद्वीपस्य नववर्षविभागः रुद्रस्य अष्टक्षेत्रसन्निधिः नाभि-ऋषभ-भरतकथा

तस्मात्तु भारतं वर्षं तस्य नाम्ना विदुर्बुधाः भरतस्यात्मजो विद्वान् सुमतिर्नाम धार्मिकः

Transliteration

tasmāttu bhārataṃ varṣaṃ tasya nāmnā vidurbudhāḥ bharatasyātmajo vidvān sumatirnāma dhārmikaḥ

Translation

Oleh itu, para bijaksana mengetahui negeri ini sebagai Bhārata-varṣa, dinamakan sempena Bharata. Putera Bharata ialah seorang yang berilmu dan berpegang pada dharma, bernama Sumati.
