अध्याय १०१: हैमवती-तपः, तारकवंश-उत्पातः, स्कन्द-प्रत्याशा, मदनदहनम्
भयात्तस्मान्महाभाग बृहद्युद्धे बृहस्पते अनिकेता भ्रमन्त्येते शकुन्ता इव पञ्जरे
bhayāttasmānmahābhāga bṛhadyuddhe bṛhaspate aniketā bhramantyete śakuntā iva pañjare
Oleh itu, wahai yang mulia—wahai Bṛhaspati—kerana ketakutan dalam peperangan besar ini, makhluk-makhluk ini, tanpa tempat berlindung dan tanpa naungan, merayau seperti burung terkurung dalam sangkar. Dalam pengertian Śaiva, perayauan yang gentar ini melambangkan paśu yang terikat oleh pāśa, hingga ia berlindung pada Pati, Tuhan Śiva, satu-satunya pemberi keberanian tanpa takut.
