Maṅkaṇaka Episode
रोमहर्षण उवाच शृणुध्वं कथयिष्ये ऽहं तीर्थानि विविधानि च / कथितानि पुराणेषु मुनिभिर्ब्रह्मवादिभिः
romaharṣaṇa uvāca śṛṇudhvaṃ kathayiṣye 'haṃ tīrthāni vividhāni ca / kathitāni purāṇeṣu munibhirbrahmavādibhiḥ
Romaharṣaṇa berkata: “Dengarlah. Aku akan menghuraikan pelbagai jenis tīrtha yang suci—sebagaimana diajarkan dalam Purāṇa oleh para muni, para penghurai Brahman (kebenaran tertinggi).”

Indirectly: it grounds the coming teaching in the testimony of brahmavādin sages—those devoted to Brahman—implying that tīrtha-knowledge is aligned with realization of the highest truth rather than mere travel.
No specific technique is taught in this verse; it establishes śravaṇa (attentive listening) as the first discipline—receiving purāṇic instruction from an authoritative lineage before undertaking vows, pilgrimage, or yogic observances.
It does not name Śiva or Viṣṇu explicitly; however, by appealing to Purāṇic and brahmavādin authority, it frames tīrthas as part of the shared Dharma-field where Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava sanctities are commonly affirmed in the Kūrma Purāṇa’s synthesis.
