देवेभ्यस्तु हुतादन्नाच्छेषाद् भूतबलिं हरेत् / भूतयज्ञः स वै ज्ञेयो भूतिदः सर्वदेहिनाम्
devebhyastu hutādannāccheṣād bhūtabaliṃ haret / bhūtayajñaḥ sa vai jñeyo bhūtidaḥ sarvadehinām
Sesudah makanan dipersembahkan ke dalam api suci bagi para dewa, daripada baki yang tinggal hendaklah diasingkan suatu persembahan (bali) untuk makhluk hidup. Inilah yang dikenali sebagai Bhūta-yajña, kerana ia menganugerahkan kesejahteraan kepada semua yang berjasad.
