Commencement of the Upari-bhāga: The Sages Request Brahma-vidyā; Vyāsa Recalls the Badarikā Inquiry and Śiva–Viṣṇu Theophany
अथैतानब्रवीद् वाक्यं पराशरसुतः प्रभुः / कच्चिन्न तपसो हानिः स्वाध्यायस्य श्रुतस्य च
athaitānabravīd vākyaṃ parāśarasutaḥ prabhuḥ / kaccinna tapaso hāniḥ svādhyāyasya śrutasya ca
Kemudian sang mulia, putera Parāśara (Vyāsa), berkata kepada mereka: “Adakah tiada kemerosotan pada tapa (pertapaan), pada svādhyāya (ulang kaji Veda), dan pada śruta—ilmu suci yang telah kamu terima melalui pendengaran?”
