Dakṣa-yajña-bhaṅgaḥ — Dadhīci’s Teaching and the Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
मन्त्रा ऊचुः सुरान् यूयं तमोपहतचेतसः / ये नाध्वरस्य राजानं पूजयध्वं महेश्वरम्
mantrā ūcuḥ surān yūyaṃ tamopahatacetasaḥ / ye nādhvarasya rājānaṃ pūjayadhvaṃ maheśvaram
Mantra-mantra berkata kepada para dewa: “Kamu berakal yang ditimpa kegelapan, kerana kamu tidak memuja Mahēśvara, Raja dan Penguasa agung bagi korban suci (adhvara).”

By calling the non-worshippers “tamas-obscured,” the verse implies that spiritual insight (toward the supreme Lord) is blocked by ignorance; right recognition and reverence of the Lord who presides over yajña is aligned with clarity of consciousness.
The verse foregrounds inner purification: overcoming tamas (delusion) through correct devotion and ritual-intent (yajña-bhāva). In Kurma Purana’s Shaiva-Pashupata leaning, such worship functions as a discipline that steadies mind and directs it to Īśvara.
It presents Mahēśvara as the very lord of sacrificial order (adhvara), a role often associated with cosmic governance; this supports the Purana’s synthetic stance where supreme divinity is honored through complementary Shaiva-Vaishnava frames rather than sectarian opposition.
