Dakṣa-yajña-bhaṅgaḥ — Dadhīci’s Teaching and the Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice

प्रवर्तयामास च तं यज्ञं दक्षो ऽथ निर्भयः / रक्षते भगवान् विष्णुः शरणागतरक्षकः

pravartayāmāsa ca taṃ yajñaṃ dakṣo 'tha nirbhayaḥ / rakṣate bhagavān viṣṇuḥ śaraṇāgatarakṣakaḥ

Kemudian Dakṣa, tanpa rasa gentar, menggerakkan upacara yajña itu; kerana Bhagavān Viṣṇu—pelindung mereka yang berlindung—sesungguhnya memelihara semuanya.

FAQs

By portraying Bhagavān Viṣṇu as the unfailing protector of the surrendered, the verse points to a supreme, sovereign reality that upholds cosmic order and grants inner fearlessness through refuge (śaraṇāgati).

The verse emphasizes śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) as a core spiritual discipline—an inner yogic posture of trust and surrender that stabilizes the mind (abhaya) and aligns action (yajña) with dharma.

Within the Kurma Purana’s synthetic theology, Viṣṇu’s role as the guardian of dharma supports the wider Purāṇic frame in which yajña and divine grace operate harmoniously with Śaiva currents, presenting protective lordship as a shared, non-sectarian principle.
