This verse treats the liṅga as the subtle sign-body that becomes manifest in the womb, indicating the continuity of the individual’s subtle identity through embodiment.
It implies that embodiment is mediated by a subtle formation in the womb—where the subtle body/marker (liṅga) becomes evident—linking prior impulses (kāma) with physical development.
It encourages mindful regulation of desire (kāma), recognizing how inner impulses shape lived experience and even bodily tendencies—supporting disciplined, dharmic conduct.
