Portents at the Birth of Diti’s Sons and Hiraṇyākṣa Challenges Varuṇa
ततो निवृत्त: क्रीडिष्यन् गम्भीरं भीमनिस्वनम् । विजगाहे महासत्त्वो वार्धिं मत्त इव द्विप: ॥ २४ ॥
tato nivṛttaḥ krīḍiṣyan gambhīraṁ bhīma-nisvanam vijagāhe mahā-sattvo vārdhiṁ matta iva dvipaḥ
Kemudian, setelah kembali dari alam syurga, raksasa perkasa itu, demi bersuka-suka, menyelam ke lautan yang dalam yang mengaum ngeri—bagaikan gajah yang mabuk amarah.
In Canto 3, Chapter 17, this verse describes Lord Varāha playfully plunging into the ocean, roaring with a deep, awe-inspiring sound that displays His supreme strength.
The comparison emphasizes fearless power and effortless dominance—Varāha’s actions are līlā (divine sport), not struggle, even while confronting cosmic danger.
Remember that the Supreme can handle the heaviest burdens effortlessly; cultivating faith (śraddhā) helps a devotee face fear and uncertainty with steadiness.
