Citraketu’s Detachment, Nārada’s Mantra, and the Darśana of Anantadeva
श्रीभगवानुवाच यन्नारदाङ्गिरोभ्यां ते व्याहृतं मेऽनुशासनम् । संसिद्धोऽसि तया राजन् विद्यया दर्शनाच्च मे ॥ ५० ॥
śrī-bhagavān uvāca yan nāradāṅgirobhyāṁ te vyāhṛtaṁ me ’nuśāsanam saṁsiddho ’si tayā rājan vidyayā darśanāc ca me
The perfection of life is to be spiritually educated and to understand the existence of the Lord and how He creates, maintains and annihilates the cosmic manifestation. When one is perfect in knowledge, he can develop his love of Godhead through the association of such perfect persons as Nārada and Aṅgirā and the members of their disciplic succession. Then one is able to see the unlimited Supreme Personality of Godhead face to face. Although the Lord is unlimited, by His causeless mercy He becomes visible to the devotee, who is then able to see Him. In our present position of conditioned life we cannot see or understand the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
This verse states that the king becomes fully perfected by the spiritual knowledge (mantra-vidyā) delivered through saintly teachers and by receiving the Lord’s direct darśana—both instruction and divine grace complete the path.
Because the mantra and guidance Citraketu received came through Nārada and Aṅgirā as the Lord’s representatives; the Lord affirms that their words were truly His instruction and that Citraketu’s success came by following it.
Seek authentic guidance from realized Vaiṣṇava teachers, practice the received mantra and bhakti sincerely, and cultivate a life aimed at God-realization—understanding that steady practice invites the Lord’s mercy and deeper spiritual “vision.”
