Purūravā’s Song of Renunciation and the Glory of Sādhu-saṅga
This verse warns that one should not associate with impious people absorbed in sex and appetite, because following them leads into the blind darkness of ignorance.
Krishna was instructing Uddhava on renunciation and devotion, emphasizing that spiritual life is protected by avoiding degrading company that strengthens lust, greed, and ignorance.
Choose uplifting company and media, avoid environments that normalize indulgence and addiction, and cultivate sādhusanga, discipline, and devotional practices that purify desire.
