Vibhūti-yoga in the Bhāgavata: The Lord’s Manifest Opulences and the Discipline of Control
व्यवसायिनामहं लक्ष्मी: कितवानां छलग्रह: । तितिक्षास्मि तितिक्षूणां सत्त्वं सत्त्ववतामहम् ॥ ३१ ॥
vyavasāyinām ahaṁ lakṣmīḥ kitavānāṁ chala-grahaḥ titikṣāsmi titikṣūṇāṁ sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham
Dalam kalangan yang berusaha gigih Aku ialah Lakṣmī, yakni tuah dan kemakmuran; dalam kalangan penipu Aku ialah perjudian. Dalam kalangan yang tabah Aku ialah kemaafan; dan dalam kalangan yang bersattva Aku ialah sifat-sifat sattva mereka.
This verse teaches that Kṛṣṇa is the underlying potency seen in every category of experience—prosperity for the industrious, tolerance in the tolerant, and even the power behind deceit among gamblers—showing His all-pervading lordship.
While instructing Uddhava on His vibhūtis (divine manifestations), Kṛṣṇa reveals that all capacities arise from Him; recognizing this helps the devotee see the world as energized by the Lord while still choosing dharma and devotion.
Practice steady forbearance in hardship without losing spiritual focus—responding with patience rather than reaction—while remembering that true strength and goodness ultimately come from the Lord.
