Jarāsandha’s Siege of Mathurā, Kṛṣṇa-Balarāma’s Victory, and the Founding of Dvārakā amid Kālayavana’s Threat
This verse states that Kālayavana, described as very powerful, was then besieging Kṛṣṇa’s people, creating an immediate threat that required prompt action.
Kṛṣṇa highlights the urgency of a two-front danger: while Kālayavana attacks now, Jarāsandha is expected to arrive imminently, so the Yādavas must respond with careful strategy rather than reckless battle.
Assess risks realistically, plan for compounding pressures, and choose a response that protects dependents—timely strategy can be more dharmic and effective than impulsive confrontation.
