Rāsa-līlā Begins; Divine Multiplication; Moral Doubt and Its Resolution
आप्तकामो यदुपति: कृतवान्वै जुगुप्सितम् । किमभिप्राय एतन्न: शंशयं छिन्धि सुव्रत ॥ २८ ॥
āpta-kāmo yadu-patiḥ kṛtavān vai jugupsitam kim-abhiprāya etan naḥ śaṁśayaṁ chindhi su-vrata
Wahai engkau yang teguh memegang nazar, apakah maksud di sebalik perbuatan yang tampak tercela itu yang dilakukan oleh Yadupati, Tuhan yang puas dalam diri-Nya? Mohon hapuskan keraguan kami.
It is clear to the enlightened that these doubts will arise in the minds and hearts of persons unfamiliar with the transcendental pastimes of the Lord. Therefore since time immemorial great sages and enlightened kings like Parīkṣit Mahārāja have openly raised these questions to provide the authoritative answer for all posterity.
Because Kṛṣṇa appears to perform a socially censurable act, and Parīkṣit—seeking dharmic clarity—asks Śukadeva to explain the Lord’s deeper intention and dispel doubt.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa is called āptakāma—fully self-satisfied—implying He has no material need, so His actions must be understood as transcendental and purposeful, not driven by ordinary desire.
It teaches seekers to inquire respectfully from realized teachers when scripture seems confusing, and to distinguish divine līlā and spiritual principles from surface-level moral judgments.
