Agni Purana — Raja-dharma, Shloka 15

Mantra-śakti, Dūta-Carā (Envoys & Spies), Vyasana (Calamities), and the Sapta-Upāya of Nīti

इति पञ्चविधं दैवं व्यसनं मानुषं परं दैवं पुरुषकारेण शान्त्या च प्रशमन्नयेत्

iti pañcavidhaṃ daivaṃ vyasanaṃ mānuṣaṃ paraṃ daivaṃ puruṣakāreṇa śāntyā ca praśamannayet

Maka demikianlah, bencana lima jenis yang timbul daripada daiva (takdir/punca ketuhanan) dan bencana yang timbul daripada perbuatan manusia—bahkan daiva yang lebih kuat sekalipun—hendaklah ditenteramkan dengan usaha diri serta upacara śānti (ritus pendamaian/penenang).
