The Procedure for Śrāddha

Concept: Context-sensitive ritual grammar: the same deities (Viśvedevas) are handled differently depending on rite-type; speech-acts (responses) finalize efficacy.
Application: Avoid importing deva-yajña fire-protocols into pitṛ-rites; use the sanctioned confirmation phrases when queried.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 117 (sections distinguishing deva and pitṛ components; tṛpti and visarjana steps)
It prescribes śrāddha-specific procedure: do not establish an āvāhana-fire as in deva-yajña, and gives the correct formal replies (“svāditam” / “sukhaditam”) when asked whether the offering has satisfied the invoked recipients.
It records minute liturgical etiquette—what to do (or avoid) and what to verbally respond—showing the Agni Purana’s practical, handbook-like coverage of dharma, especially detailed śrāddha and pitṛ-rite protocols.
Correct procedure and truthful/formal responses are treated as integral to the rite’s efficacy; following them supports proper ritual order (dharma) and is believed to ensure the intended merit and satisfaction of the invoked beings in śrāddha.
