vaikuṇṭhaṃ ca sunīlaṃ ca sarvalokaiḥ samāvṛtam | jalakalmaṣasaṃvītāḥ sarve lokāstadābhavan
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) narrating to the sages
Tirtha: Kedāra (Kedārakṣetra)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Assemblage of sages (ṛṣis)
Scene: A cosmic panorama: Vaikuṇṭha turns deep blue; concentric worlds crowd and press in; a strange, turbulent ‘watery taint’ spreads like ink in an ocean, veiling realms and deities.
Cosmic realms are subject to veiling and dissolution; purity and permanence are sought through the Supreme beyond the changing lokas.
Indirectly within Kedāra Khaṇḍa’s sacred setting; this verse focuses on cosmic conditions rather than a particular tīrtha.
