pākhaṃḍino durjanāḥ pāpaśīlā vipraṃ dṛṣṭvā coddhatā unmadāśca | vadhyāstyājyāḥ sadbhirevaṃvidhā hi tasmādenaṃ śāpituṃ codyato'smi
Dakṣa
Tirtha: Kedāra (contextual frame)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Brāhmaṇa assembly within the story; also purāṇic audience (contextual)
Scene: Dakṣa, eyes widened and brows knit, declares that such ‘heretics’ are to be punished and announces his intention to curse; brāhmaṇas react—some approving, some uneasy—while the yajña fire flares.
Condemning the divine under the guise of moral judgment is itself adharma; anger-driven speech becomes the cause of one’s own fall.
No site is praised; the verse continues the Naimiṣāraṇya-based conflict narrative.
None; it announces an intended curse (śāpa), not a prescribed rite.
