arjuna uvāca | yogasvarūpamicchāmi śrotuṃ nārada tattvataḥ | yogaṃ sarve praśaṃsaṃti yataḥ sarvottamottamam
Arjuna
Scene: Arjuna, seated respectfully, asks Nārada about the true nature of Yoga; the setting is calm, with ascetic ambience and a sense of sacred instruction.
A sincere seeker approaches a realized teacher and asks for tattva—yoga must be understood in its true essence, not merely praised.
No specific tīrtha is named in this verse; the text shifts into yogic instruction within the same adhyāya’s sacred-kṣetra frame.
None directly; it introduces inquiry into yoga as a supreme spiritual discipline.
