yaddattvā tapyate paścādāsuraṃ taddhṛthā matam | aśraddhayā yaddadāti rākṣasaṃ syādvṛthaiva tat
दान देऊन नंतर ज्याला पश्चात्तापाने जळजळ होते, ते दान ‘आसुर’ मानले जाऊन व्यर्थ ठरते. आणि श्रद्धेविना दिलेले दान ‘राक्षस’—तेही निष्फळ होते.

Scene: A donor hands a gift but later turns away with a troubled face (regret), contrasted with another donor giving mechanically without devotion; the teacher points out the inner fault as the true destroyer of merit.
