नारद उवाच । एवं विप्रकृता देवा महेंद्रसहितास्तदा । ययुः स्वायंभुवं दाम मर्करूपमुपाश्रिताः
nārada uvāca | evaṃ viprakṛtā devā maheṃdrasahitāstadā | yayuḥ svāyaṃbhuvaṃ dāma markarūpamupāśritāḥ
नारद म्हणाले—अशा रीतीने पीडित व अपमानित देवगण, महेंद्रासह, तेव्हा स्वयंभू प्रभूच्या धामास गेले, मर्कट-रूप धारण करून (छद्मवेषाने)।
