vyāsa uvāca | śṛṇu rājanpravakṣyāmi karṇāṭakaviceṣṭitam | devānāṃ dānavānāṃ yo duḥsaho vīryadarpitaḥ

व्यास म्हणाला—हे राजन्, ऐक; मी कर्णाटकाचे पराक्रम सांगतो—जो आपल्या वीर्याच्या दर्पाने उन्मत्त होऊन देव व दानव दोघांनाही असह्य झाला।
