FAQs

It marks a sacred tithi when Mahākālī-Śakti manifests, highlighting that the Lord’s power (Śakti) governs māyā—capable of veiling and revealing reality—so the seeker turns to Shiva-Śakti for liberation beyond delusion.

Mahākālī is understood as Shiva’s inseparable Śakti; worship of the Liṅga (Saguna symbol of Shiva) is traditionally completed by honoring Śakti, acknowledging that grace and awakening arise through their unity.

On Phālguna Śukla Dvādaśī, one may perform Shiva-pūjā with pañcākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), apply tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and meditate on Shiva-Śakti to overcome moha (delusion).
