brahmādayassurāssarve yanmāyāmohitāḥ prabho | na jānanti parantattvaṃ manuṣyāṇāṃ ca kā kathā
हे प्रभो! ब्रह्मा इत्यादी सर्व देवही तुझ्या मायेमुळे मोहित होऊन परम तत्त्व जाणत नाहीत; मग सामान्य मनुष्यांची काय कथा!
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Umāsaṃhitā teaching as received in the Purāṇic lineage)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Type: stotra
It teaches that the Supreme Lord (Pati) is beyond the reach of limited intellect; even exalted devas can be veiled by Māyā, so liberation requires Shiva’s grace and right means (bhakti/jñāna guided by dharma).
Since the transcendent paratattva is hard to grasp, the Purāṇa points seekers to accessible worship—Śiva as Linga and other saguna forms—through which devotion matures and the veil of Māyā is thinned by grace.
Steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with Śiva-dhyāna and Linga-pūjā is implied as a practical way for humans to move beyond Māyā’s delusion toward Shiva-realization.
