It highlights the Shaiva ethic of honoring realized sages and devotees: when respect and proper hospitality are offered, the mind becomes purified and satisfied, supporting the path toward Shiva’s grace and inner peace.
While the verse is narrative, it reflects an essential limb of Saguna Shiva worship—reverence to Shiva’s devotees and teachers—considered a supportive practice that deepens bhakti and steadies the seeker for Linga-upasana.
The takeaway is seva and satkara—serving and honoring holy persons—along with cultivating a pleased, non-agitated mind, which complements japa of Shiva mantras such as the Panchakshara.
