FAQs

It teaches that purification is not limited to one external act—vidyā (right spiritual knowledge) and disciplined inner conduct, along with sanctifying supports in creation, are described as powerful means that remove sin and orient the soul toward Shiva.

In Shaiva practice, outer worship of Saguna Shiva (such as Linga-puja) is strengthened by inner purity; this verse highlights the inner and cosmic purifiers—knowledge and restraint—through which worship becomes effective and sin-destroying.

Adopt disciplined conduct (sense-restraint) and study/recitation that builds vidyā; complement this with purifying observances such as japa of Shiva’s mantra (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and maintaining inner cleanliness before worship.
