Bāṇa’s Grief and the Turn to Śiva-Remembrance
dṛgarko jaṭharaṃ vārddhirbhujeṃdro dhiṣaṇā vidhiḥ | prajāpatirvisargaśca dharmo hi hṛdayaṃ tava
Suta Goswami (narrating the praise within the Yuddha Khanda context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
It presents Shiva as the inner reality of all cosmic powers—sun, ocean, serpent-lord, creator, and Dharma—guiding the devotee to perceive one Pati (Shiva) behind all functions, which stabilizes devotion and leads toward liberation.
The verse supports Saguna contemplation: the devotee worships Shiva in a form accessible to mind and heart, recognizing that the Linga signifies the same all-pervading Lord who manifests as cosmic order (Dharma) and creative power.
A stuti-based dhyāna: while chanting Om Namaḥ Śivāya, contemplate Shiva as the indwelling presence in the sun-like eye (illumination), ocean-like belly (vastness), and Dharma in the heart; this aligns mind with Śiva-tattva during japa or Mahāśivarātri worship.
