Bāṇāsura’s Praise of Śiva and Petition for Battle
ūṣovāca | sakhi yadyeṣa me bhartā pārvatyā vihitaḥ purā | kenopāyena te guptaḥ prāpyate vidhivanmayā

The verse highlights dharmic discernment: even when one feels divinely destined (ordained by Pārvatī), one should seek a righteous, orderly means (vidhi) rather than acting impulsively—aligning personal desire with divine grace and moral law.
Though not explicitly about the Liṅga, the attitude is devotional and Shaiva: Uṣā treats Pārvatī’s will as authoritative and seeks “vidhivat” conduct—mirroring how Saguna Shiva worship is performed with prescribed rites, purity of intent, and reverence for divine ordinance.
The implied practice is vidhivat sādhana—seeking guidance, maintaining restraint, and following proper observances. A Shaiva takeaway is to approach life-decisions with prayerful clarity (e.g., japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and dharmic discipline rather than secrecy-driven haste.
