Bāṇāsura Receives Gaṇapatya; Genealogical Prelude
स्प्रष्टुं शक्नोति या काचिदृते दाक्षायणी स्त्रियम् । सा गच्छेत्तत्र निश्शंकं मोहयेत्पार्वतीपतिम्
spraṣṭuṃ śaknoti yā kācidṛte dākṣāyaṇī striyam | sā gacchettatra niśśaṃkaṃ mohayetpārvatīpatim
दाक्षायणी (सती) हिला वगळून जी कोणतीही स्त्री त्याच्याजवळ जाऊन त्याला स्पर्श करू शकते, तिने निःशंक तेथे जावे आणि पार्वतीपती महादेवाला मोहविण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा.

The verse highlights that Śiva (Pati) is not truly conquered by worldly allure; attempts to “bewilder” him point to the limited power of moha (delusion) before the supreme consciousness. In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, bondage (pāśa) binds the soul, not the Lord.
In saguna worship, devotees approach Śiva with reverence and purity, not manipulation. The narrative contrast reinforces that Śiva is approached through bhakti, mantra, and dharma—symbolized by Linga worship—rather than through external charm or deceit.
The practical takeaway is to replace moha with upāsanā: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and disciplined purity (śauca), as these are the approved means to approach Śiva in the Purāṇic Shaiva path.
