कैलासमार्गे शङ्करस्य परीक्षा — Śiva Tests the Approachers on the Kailāsa Path
सूत उवाच । इत्येवं व्याससंपृष्टो ब्रह्मपुत्रो महामुनिः । उवाचार्थवदव्यग्रं वाक्यं वाक्यविशारदः
sūta uvāca | ityevaṃ vyāsasaṃpṛṣṭo brahmaputro mahāmuniḥ | uvācārthavadavyagraṃ vākyaṃ vākyaviśāradaḥ
सूत म्हणाले—व्यासांनी असे विचारल्यावर ब्रह्मपुत्र महामुनी, वाणीविशारद, अव्यग्र होऊन अर्थपूर्ण वचन बोलला.
Suta Goswami
Significance: Establishes paramparā-authority: Vyāsa questions, Brahmā’s son replies, Sūta transmits—supporting śāstra-prāmāṇya for Śaiva doctrine and practice.
It emphasizes the Shaiva ideal that true teaching is delivered with clarity, inner steadiness, and purposeful meaning—qualities required for transmitting Shiva-tattva without distortion.
While not describing a ritual directly, it frames the authority of the forthcoming instruction: Linga and Saguna Shiva worship are to be learned through composed, meaningful śāstric speech handed down in a disciplined lineage.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (reverent listening) with avyagra-citta (undistracted mind), preparing the seeker to absorb Shiva-mantra, dhyāna, and observances like bhasma and rudrākṣa when they arise in the teaching.
